For the Record

The career, in evidence. Start to now.

1990s

Thirty years of guitar

Flannel · nine years  /  PNDub · current

Guitar has been the constant for 30 years. Nine of them were with Flannel, a 90s rock cover band and a regular at Bellingham's Wild Buffalo. The current band is PNDub, a reggae project under a year old that carries three of Flannel's five members forward. Along the way I take every opportunity to help emerging musicians find joy in playing guitar.

What it gave me: proof that practice compounds, and people to share it with.

2000

Western Washington University

B.A. Business/Marketing · Minor in Audio Engineering, Fairhaven College · 2000 to 2004

Four years at Western in Bellingham: a business and marketing degree through the College of Business and Economics, plus an audio engineering minor at Fairhaven College. Strategy, business fundamentals, and production craft in one degree, the base every channel I have run since was built on.

What it gave me: the foundation 20 years of marketing got built on.

Western Washington University diploma, Bachelor of Arts, College of Business and Economics, March 2004

2004

A decade at Barlean's

Digital Media Director · Barlean's, Ferndale WA · 2004 to 2014

Fresh out of Western, I built Barlean's digital marketing function from the ground up and ran it for ten years: SEO, SEM, content strategy, e-commerce, social media, and brand development. Along the way I picked up the Social Media Rockstar Award at Social Media Conference NW in 2010 and taught social media marketing at Whatcom Community College from 2011 to 2015.

What it gave me: every digital channel, learned by building it, not inheriting it.

2014

Sales floors and startups

My Non-GMO Box · Priority One · Natural Health International · GuitarGearHouse.com · 2014 to 2018

It started with My Non-GMO Box, my first run at a business of my own. When Washington's GMO-labeling initiative, I-522, failed at the ballot, I built a subscription box that gave consumers what the law would not: clarity about what was in their food. It won Bellingham Pitch Fest in 2015. From there, range: territory sales for Priority One across Washington, Montana, and British Columbia, where I tripled year over year sales. Remote digital marketing for Natural Health International out of San Francisco. Then a second venture, GuitarGearHouse.com, a fully automated drop-ship operation.

What it gave me: carrying a quota, and what it costs to found something.

2019

Thirteen business units at LFS

Marketing Manager · LFS Inc, Bellingham WA · 2019 to 2025

Corporate marketing for a Pacific Northwest supplier serving commercial fishing, boating, and outdoor markets since 1967, with stores in Bellingham, Seattle, and fishing communities across Alaska. Strategy and execution across thirteen business units, including eleven brick-and-mortar retail locations and three e-commerce websites.

What it gave me: running marketing as a portfolio, not a single brand.

2026

MODRN and the AI turn

Founder / Fractional Marketing Executive · MODRN, Bellingham WA · 2026 to present

LFS wrapped in October 2025. The months between were the ramp up, and MODRN launched January 1, 2026: an AI marketing automation company for mid-market agencies and service businesses. I design and deploy AI agent systems, custom skills, and MCP integrations, plus go-to-market for the home services vertical across Whatcom and Skagit counties. The stack has evolved with the field: I built OpenClaw, a multi-agent orchestration platform, ran Hermes Agent, and shipped through Codex and Factory before landing as a Claude Code power user for daily operations. Harness agnostic by practice, opinionated by experience.

What it gave me: twenty years of marketing instinct, finally moving at machine speed.
